Webedia
A marketplace rebuilt with Symfony, cached and brought in-house at Webedia.
Pourdebon.com is the Webedia group's food marketplace. As OPS and full-stack developer from 2016 to 2018, I maintained the original Drupal site, then led its rebuild with Symfony and evolved its infrastructure.
- Client
- Webedia - PourDeBon
- Delivered
- Sep 2016
- Scope
- Infrastructure, Varnish caching and datacenter migration
- Tools
- Symfony · Drupal · Mirakl · Docker · PHP · Gitlab
01 · The brief
A legacy site to evolve without stopping it.
The site ran on Drupal 7, hosted on platform.sh, with a catalogue fed by several tools: Akeneo for product data, Mirakl for the marketplace. It had to be maintained day to day while preparing a faster foundation that was easier to evolve.
02 · What I did
A complete rebuild, from application to hosting.
- Corrective maintenance and improvements of the Drupal 7 site, front end and back office
- Rebuild of the site with Symfony 3.4
- Varnish set-up and a crawler that warms up the cache
- Interfaces with Akeneo and Mirakl for products and sellers
- SEO overhaul, tagging for Google Shopping and Facebook Pixel
- ELK stack (Kibana) to monitor activity, migration from platform.sh to the Webedia datacenter
03 · The outcome
- Speed Pages served from the Varnish cache, warmed up by a dedicated crawler.
- Hosting under control A site migrated from platform.sh to the Webedia group's datacenter.
- Visibility A reworked SEO and a catalogue tagged for Google Shopping and Facebook.
